This vintage rugs post was done in partnership with Revival but the opinions within are 1000% mine. Thank you for supporting the brands that support PrepFord Wife.
This doesn’t much count as much of a reveal if you’ve seen this March’s Country Living Mag then you’ve seen it but I am no less excited to share it with you all. Meet my new rug friend: Evaleen. True story: I picked this rug from the Revival site in minutes flat. We needed a rug a few days before the Country Living shoot and after going back and forth on multiple websites with over 50 tabs open, the shoot producer finally said “have you tried Revival?” Vintage rugs? Check. Ethically sourced? Check. Strange Sizes to fit my dining room? Check.
As soon as I went to the site and sorted by color and size, I knew she would do. She arrived a few days later neatly folded in a box one day before the shoot; my one of a kind and on time beauty. I intended to use Evaleen for the shoot and then find a rug “that I liked more” later. HA!
When I fall, I fall hard and fast and while the fast shipping sold me -because let’s be real I needed that fast shipping- seeing the rug all laid out sold me. It was the Vivienne Westwood dress in Sex and the City for me; it upped the ante. While our new house was very coastal girly prep (sorry, Marcus) this house feels very traditional prep. Though we still include that little bit of a “wink” in the home with pattern and color play. This rug fit the bill perfectly. It pulled in the different colors that we used in the space from paining the chairs to the wallpaper, without ever being too matchy matchy or on the nose.
It really made this space feel complete and warm without breaking the bank or making me leave the house. I air on the side of vintage rugs. I love em’. But a vintage rug often takes forever to find and cultivate. Vintage rugs are the ones you find on holiday in a dusty shop for $8000 and have to ship back to your house and hope it arrives safely. Considering we pulled this room together during a pandemic, that just wasn’t possible. but I still got the look. I’m so grateful to Revival for coming in just in the nick of time.
Though my girl Evaleen is one of a kind. There are plenty of other beautiful rugs on the site and I’m linking them below and including 10% off from the brand with code PREPFORDWIFE10. Thanks Revival and happy hunting!

Thank you, friend! It was a fun project for us as people who’ve never had formal dining before!

I love your decorating style! You don’t seem afraid to make a design decision. I’m afraid if I make a decision and don’t like it I’m stuck with it. I go between traditional, farmhouse and cottage. Cottage makes me smile but traditional seems longer lasting. What should I do to focus?

Thank you so much! I get a case of the scaries from time to time. What helps me is recognizing that very few things I do are permanent. You can always try again especially if you are just pulling in simple things to accent your style like pillows, rugs, curtains and paint. You could absolutely do and buy what gives you joy so if cottage makes you smile. That sounds smart to me.
