A very happy Black Herstory Month to you all. Over the year, black history month has become one of my favorite times. The ability to share this time with you all and create community around our shared desire to learn and just bask in black girl excellence has been truly a balm to my soul. As usual, each day this month, we’ll be chatting about a new femme figure it Black History (hence the black HERstory) over on Instagram in stories.
In honor of that, I am rounding up a few of my favorite Black Herstory Goodies from some of my favorite black woman owned shops. I have over half of the items and love them. That way you can picture me (and yourself) rocking these items all month long. Each one of these items is a bit of continuing education in and of itself. From the Bell Hooks Mug, which actually has one of her more well know quotes on the back, to the female rappers tee which doesn’t come with an identification key -either you know them or you get to googling- each item is connected to black womanhood and history. Oh except that barrette, that’s just in here because it’s cute.
This month, I’m trying to do something just a smidge different and being more present over here on the blog. I realized I’m done Black Herstory Month features for years and there is no sign of it on this blog to speak of. And if something were to ever happen to Instagram, I wouldn’t have anything save from it. So I am going to do a full round up on the blog at the end of the month of our herstorians as well as writing up a quick bio on the past features and including them here. Emphasis on quick. But I am looking forward to revisiting them and getting to unveil each feature through the rest of the month. Looking forward to chatting,
XO Victoria
