How to Put Halloween Giant Spider Decor on House

Each year, we go all out for Halloween. My siblings and I didn’t celebrate growing up but it quickly rose through the ranks as my favorite holiday in adulthood. After all, our wedding anniversary kicks off -what use to be- the 13 days of Halloween on ABC Family. And this season just feels so magical and nostalgic to that time in my life. So we get a little passionate about Halloween.

This is our second year of doing this giant spider decor and they are a real crowd pleaser for our neighborhood children. Ours are from Target but you can absolutely try you hand at DIYing these. But then how do you hang them up after? Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

How to Hang the Giant Spiders Decor to the Web

First things first, map it out! I snapped a quick picture of the house and used Mark Up in the photo app to plot where I wanted the spiders to be. From there. I started with the web first. Our web is actually hooked inside the window on our second floor. I wanted it to be as secure as possible since I knew I wanted to hang spiders on it.

See that little cord right below the spiders head? That’s a zip tie. We attach these to the spiders joints at random and use those to attach them to the web. You can wrap one zip tie the joint and close it around the web. Or you can wrap one zip tie around the leg and then thread another and use that to link to the web. You can see both versions below.

Attaching the spiders to the house was even easier. We tack command strips to the house and then use the zip tie on the joint to attach them to the house. I try to purchase the 3 lb. capacity Command Strips for the bigger spiders. There’s no way these spiders weigh 3 lbs. but better safe than sorry.

I placed the spiders in easy to reach locations on our house and required no ladder. For the upstairs, I hung the command strips on the window frames. I initially placed the strip on the roof tile. Talk about unsuccessful! An hour later it fell. *forehead slap* So I tacked the strips to the window frame.

And there you have it! Super easy giant spider decor to give you joy through the rest of the season.
