Coastal Grandmother’s Cottage Guest Suite Reveal

Hey hey! Welcome back to another day, another reveal. This time, a guest suite. I feel like I am constantly revealing guest spaces on this blog (examples A, B and C). But honestly, this is one of my favorites. This space is apart of the Coastal Grandmother’s Cottage; a home that my husband and I use to share that we refreshed for my mom. This guest space absolutely embodies what we wanted to this home to feel like. Coastal, restful and fun were the words I leaned into for this space

Pomegranate Print

Please feast your eyes on this Pomegranate print on this headboard, gifted to us by Rifle Paper Co. It is everything we wanted this space to be. With its clean lines and subtle print, it’s perfect for a restful guest space. To add a bit of fun and dimension, we also added the flora bench in the exact same pattern. It plays so well off the headboard in the small space without overwhelming it and gives the perfect place for guest to pop their shoes off and crack open their luggage. Because the room is so small, we chose not to add a dresser into the foot print of the room. Instead, we placed it into the closet.

Serene Paint Color

Keeping with the chill vibe, this icy blue aptly named Frozen by Clare was an easy pick. And in this room, the ceiling got the same treatment. I chose a tone on tone, with the same color on the walls and the trim. I believe the kids nowadays are calling this color drenching. This color is an easy one to use. When choosing it, I just needed to be careful to go easy on the pink and dial up the sophistication in finishes otherwise, it can give nursery vibes. (Which obviously would be perfect for an actual nursery.)

Lighting

My mom loves polka dot! Aside from a good houndstooth, it’s her signature print. Always in black and white, of course. My mom has loved these Kate Spade lamps since the moment I bought them over a decade ago. It was only right to bring them here for her. I paired it with this ceiling fan in here. This room could use a flashier, glossier light for the ceilings but with the ceilings standing at only 8ft, on the second floor of a little humid house in the south, it would behoove anyone who comes in this room for us to leave the fan alone. So we did. and I swear by Hunter fans so I felt no guilt.

Luxe Bedding

I dare you to find more gorgeous bedding than this. This bedding is from The Company Store (gifted) and it’s so chic. I air on the side of white sheets in our guest rooms. It gives it a simple luxury feel without being fussy. And for some reason, our guests rooms are rarely empty in this family. So white bedding gives us the chance to just it into the wash with optional bleach when the room needs a quick turnover.

For every guest bedroom that I do, I try and make sure there are a multitude of layers. People need to be able to adjust their temperature at night without summoning their host. So on this bed I’ve include the usual layers a sheet, a quilt, a duvet and then an additional quilt, for good measure. Guest can add or take away as they see fit.

Finishing touches

Subtle hints of brass in the landscape art call back to the brass in the lamp and this barely visible but definitely fabulous curtain rod. I left the curtains in this space breezy, breaking up the cool colors with a canvas color that’s repeated in this jute rug from rugs.com. I know, I know. People either really love or really hate jute rugs. But in a space this small, it’s the perfect addition that adds just the right amount of texture and color. When a room has a tight color palette, the introduction of more texture is always a boon. II topped the space off with this Seven Sister piece from Artfully Walls that left me captivated from the moment I saw it. Just another little thing nod to our Coastal Grandmother’s Cottage. And you can totally ignore my previous comment about not adding pink because the pink matte made this art jump off the wall and out into reality. I am such a huge fan of this piece.

So there you have it. Another space from last fall’s One Room Challenge, It’s such a spring space so it felt more appropriate for now. I’ll come back with additional spaces as we round the corner on this house. Before I sign off I want to give a huuuuuuge shout out to the amazing partners who partnered for this space. I could not have done this without them and I am so grateful. You can see a full list of sources down below.
