Bachelorette Weekend and Girls Trip in Charleston

Charleston is the perfect getaway for bachelorette weekend or any girls trip. I spent this past weekend hosting a bachelorette for my main girl, Brooke. I’ve gotta say, Charleston’s per capita of brides this weekend was legendary; every fifth girl we met was there for a bridal shower which made it the perfect atmosphere for a girl’s weekend.

Where to Stay

If you are planning a girls trip and want to be closer to nightlife, it’s best to stay in the heart of Charleston where you can walk around and be close to everything. I would suggest downtown or around King Street. Airbnbs are getting better and better and can house everyone in one place.

If you are planning and actually prefer the beach Folly Beach and Sullivan’s Island are both fun options.

We stayed in Mount Pleasant which tends to be quieter but is only 15 minute from the heart of Charleston over the Ravenel Bridge. I don’t drink and own an eight seat SUV, so I was happy to play Uber to the girls for the weekend.

Perfect Charleston Bachelorette Weekend Itinerary

Day One // Friday

Tips:

Reservations: Make reservations for your agenda weeks ahead of time. Charleston is a foodie location and with larger parties on the weekends, you want to make sure the restaurants you know you’ll have a table.

Bachelorette Kits: I made these kits for all of the girls and a good thing. We broke into them for bandages and snacks for the night. I also made each girl a hat for the weekend. Though you can absolutely purchase them.

Be Flexible: We followed our itinerary but excluded Rainbow Row and added a trip to “the pineapple” near the battery before dinner. We also saved Stars for Saturday. Adjust as you go when it makes sense.

Day Two // Saturday

We started Saturday with brunch at Old Village Post Inn which was intimate since I made reservations for opening at 10am. We had the entire dining area to ourselves which was a dream. From there we went straight to the beach for an afternoon of lying on the sand.

Must Do:

Rainbow Row: No trip to Charleston is complete without Rainbow Row, a pastel line of home on East Bay Street that are quintessential Charleston.

Surprise Fun: One of the girls brought along a polaroid camera. . Because we had a limited number of pictures and polaroid only gives you one shot at greatness, we each planned a picture we wanted to take with the bride for a keepsake. I saved my photo for Rainbow Row which turned out perfect because look at that colorful little lady! The camera even cooperated by giving me the Rainbow strip. It made it so special.

Tassel Workshop

From Rainbow Row, we headed to Cannonborough Collective to make tassel earrings with the hostess with the mostest, Mimi of The Tiny Tassel who set up a private workshop, complete with drinks and swan plates after the store closed. You know I love Mimi (exhibit A) and my bias aside, I would highly recommend this class as something a little different to do at a bachelorette. (My bride was wearing tassels so obviously this was right up here alley.

What I love about these kinds of activities is that they, give you a chance to support a small maker but also come home with something unique. Aside from just thinking the world of Mimi, who has the patience of a kindergarten teacher and a saint all rolled into one, making four tier earrings really helped me appreciate how affordable these earrings really are for the work that she puts in.

Dinner

We finished off our evening with dinner at Low Country Bistro and Stars Rooftop bar on King Street. At 11pm, Stars turns into a nightclub downstairs which makes it a great one stop shop if you want to have dinner there first. When leaving Stars, stop at Callie’s Biscuits. They’re open 10pm-2am on Friday and Saturday and have the most delicious post-bar options.

Day Three // Sunday

We polished off the weekend with Poogan’s Porch for Brunch and a walk down King Street to work off some of the food before piling in the car to be homeward bound.

I had so much fun this weekend with these girls. A sweeter, more kind hearted bunch, I’ve never seen and it was an awesome weekend to celebrate our bride.

Okay, now it’s your turn. If you’ve ever been to Charleston for a Bachelorette, what’d I miss?
